Pallavi Kurella
Pallavi is a junior undergraduate student at the University of Pittsburgh. She is pursuing a major in Neuroscience, a minor in Chemistry, and certificates in the Conceptual Foundations of Medicine, Global Health, and Disability Studies. Pallavi is passionate about neuroscience and is currently working on the “AD Project,” where she studies the role of reactive astrocytes in the progression of Alzheimer’s Disease, specifically focusing on the Na+/H+ Exchanger Isoform 1 (NHE1) protein in AD mouse models. After graduation, Pallavi hopes to continue her education in medical school to fulfill her goal of becoming a Developmental Pediatrician and treating children in underserved communities. Outside the lab, Pallavi works as a Medical Assistant at the Children’s Hospital and is an avid volunteer, actively involved with numerous organizations in Pittsburgh.
